Wintzell’s Golf Classic: Thursday, November 1, 2018
The Wintzell’s Golf Classic is a four-person team scramble held at Magnolia Grove Golf Course in Mobile, Alabama — part of the world-class Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. The tournament is the single largest fundraiser of Wintzell’s Oyster House, having raised over $400,000 in scholarship funds for the college-bound finalists of the Distinguished Young Women program. The tournament was established in 2006 and was held each June in Baldwin County for many years before moving to Mobile — and moving to the first Thursday in November — in 2017. The tournament’s beneficiary is the newly established Hooked on Helping Foundation — a Wintzell’s foundation which believes strongly in a range of philanthropic projects, pursuits and causes. Though Wintzell’s foundation is just getting started, the 80-year-old restaurant brand has a long history of community-driven impact. Founder Oliver Wintzell was fond of a creed called “My Town,” which is displayed at all Wintzell’s restaurants. To this day, we’re committed to this inspirational set of values and to giving back to benefit our region.
This year, the Wintzell’s Golf Classic celebrates its 12th anniversary as one of the Gulf Coast’s most favorite golf tournaments. We invite you to join us as we raise the bar for the Hooked on Helping Foundation — an organization that believes strongly in a range of philanthropic projects, pursuits and causes that strengthen the communities where Wintzell’s restaurants are located.
