Wintzell's Oyster House: serving the freshest Gulf Coast seafood for over 75 years

About Wintzell’s

Mobile’s Dining Landmark

Wintzell’s Oyster House was founded as a six-stool oyster bar in 1938 by J. Oliver Wintzell in Mobile, Alabama, a charming coastal city that was established more than three hundred years ago.

The flagship Wintzell’s location on Dauphin Street recently celebrated its 80th anniversary and is known far and wide for its oysters — fried, stewed or nude.” The restaurant and brand have expanded considerably over the last two decades, with additional locations reaching from the Gulf Coast to central and northern Alabama; though the Wintzell’s family sold the restaurant in the 1980s, the original décor still boasts several thousand of the founder’s homespun sayings on display, delivering an atmosphere that’s casual, lively, and unmistakably southern.

After 80 years, we’re still shuck’n!
